The Department of Radiotherapy was separated from the Radiology Department in 1983 November with Dr. N. Venkatapathi Raju as the first Professor. It is provided with a Cobalt Therapy Unit under the Colombo plan in October 1970. The department is being provided with a new Cobalt Therapy Unit now.

The department is having the following equipment:
1. Telecobalt therapy unit and Treatment planning system.
2. Brachy therapy - Calcium unit for ICA
3. IRIDIVON - cutter
