The Department
of Plastic Surgery was started in King George
Hospital in 1986 with posts of one Professor
and two Assistant Professors. The bed strength
then was 17. Presently, the Department of Plastic
Surgery conducts two Out Patient Clinics and
has two days exclusively for surgeries and operations
during the week. Over 1100 patients attend the
Out Patient Clinic every year with 200 hospital
admissions and 400 surgeries.
In
1995, a separate Burns Ward with 12 beds was
inaugurated with help of generous donations
from an NRI doctor, Dr Vasu Pandrangi. About
350 burn patients are admitted each year at
the ward.
The
department provides training to Under graduate
and Post graduate students in procedures of
plastic surgery, ENT etc.
