The department
of Nuclear Medicine was started in 1982 as part
of the 'Nuclear Technique Centre' of Andhra
University in the ground floor of the pediatrics
block (old cardiology block) with a thyroid
probe.
A
full pledged department was set up in 1984 with
Dr S. Narasimha Rao as in-charge. He was made
the Professor in 1987. The department was equipped
with a medical fast scanners and RA counter.
The
present building opposite Rajendra Prasad ward
was inaugurated on 8.10.1993. Subsequently
the department procured a gamma camera in 1993.
The department provides diagnostic services
for thyroid brain, ear, kidney, bone and blood
vessel disease and also cancer. |
