The
Department of General Surgery was started
in the year 1923 under the stewardship
of Lt Col. F.J. Anderson. In the initial
years, there were only four units, in
course of time, two more units were
added to abide by the guidelines laid
down by the Medical Council of India.
Many eminent surgeons were churned from
this department. The department has
an air-conditioned conference hall,
where most of the hospital meetings
are conducted on a regular basis. In
addition to routine clinical work, the
department conducts experimental surgery
to evolve newer methods of patient care.
Several workshops, State conferences
have been conducted at the Department
of General Surgery. Regular surgical
meetings are also being conducted under
the aegis of North Andhra Surgeons Association. |
