The Departments of Dermatology and Venereology were initially started with a combined status called the Dermato - Venereology Department at the Andhra Medical College. Dr Govindan Nair was the first Head of the Department (HOD). In 1956, the two departments were bifurcated and Dr B.V. Satyanarayana took over the helm of the Department of Dermatology.
